Events at RSPB Insh Marshes in 2008

Walk with a Naturalist:    Every Thursday afternoon @ 2pm April to August. Advance booking is not required for these afternoon walks.

Join a local naturalist to explore the reserve and see the birds, flowers and insects of this very special site. Walks last 2 – 3 hours.

·      April: 3, 10, 17, 24

·      May: 1, 8, 15, 22, 29

·      June: 5, 12, 19, 26

·      July: 3, 10, 17, 24, 31

·      August: 7, 14, 21, 28

·      Creatures of the night:  On the third Tuesday of each month April to August.  ADVANCE BOOKING ESSENTIAL.

·       See moths of the night up close and learn about their nocturnal habits.

·      Listen for birds calling at dusk

·      Watch bats leaving their daytime roost

·      April:  15th   7.30 – 9.30 pm

·      May:  20th    8.30 –10.30 pm

·      June:  17th      9 – 11 pm

·      July:  15th      8.30 -10.30pm

·      August: 19th    7.30 -9.30 pm

Note: a moth trap will be run overnight following these events. If you wish to see what has been caught, please meet at the car-park at 0930 the following morning (i.e April 16th, May 21st, June 18th, July 16th and August 20th).

Meet at the RSPB reserve car park 2 miles along the B970 from Kingussie and ½ mile beyond Ruthven Barracks

·      £2 Adults  (RSPB members)

·      £5  Adults  (non- members)

·      Children Free (under 16) 

·      Be prepared for wet/cold weather. For evening events, midge repellent and a torch are recommended

The Magical Marshes

Have fun discovering the amazing wildlife of Insh Marshes. In the meadows and bird hide we'll play nature games, look for minibeasts and other wildlife, and make crafty creatures. For families with primary-school-age children.

Drop in to Insh Marshes information viewpoint where we'll be on hand with high powered optics to help show you wildlife and talk about the work we're undertaking to protect it.
