Residential Craft Courses

Come and enjoy a Highland welcome in a 19th Century church converted to our family home and craft workshop.  Set in quiet countryside we are centrally located to explore beautiful Strathspey.  The area offers many attractions from ski-ing, walking and climbing to watersports, fishing, birdwatching, pony trekking and cycling.  We are within a short drive of the famous "Whiskey Trail", many interesting Castles and places of historical interest and only an hours drive away from Loch Ness.
  • Facilities: 1 twin, 1 double/triple, 1 shared bathroom (guests use only) and 1 shared shower room.  Both rooms have tea/coffee making facilities.  Central heating.
  • A unique Lounge is available for the use of guests offering colour T.V. and video, board games, a large library covering many subjects from natural history, Antarctica, climbing and the outdoors to information on many places to visit locally.
 Kirkbeag, Living Room
  • Special diets are catered for if we are notified in advance.  Dinners and packed lunches can be provided by prior arrangement.  (N.B. Dinners - all year excluding July & August).
  • Drying facilities are available for the outdoor enthusiasts and cycles can be safely accommodated.
  • Private off-road parking ~ garden and children's play area ~ payphone ~ hairdryer ~ iron and friendly helpful advice on the area are all available to our guests.
  • Regretfully, we cannot accept pets, due to allergies, this is a cat and dog free zone!
  • Find us on the B9152, 1 mile North of Kincraig Village and 5 miles South of Aviemore.  If travelling from the South exit the A9 at Kincraig turn off, turn right at the bottom of the slip road (B9152) and drive to Kincraig (5 miles).  Continue on the same road, signposted for Aviemore, for 1 mile.  Kirkbeag stands above the road on the right hand side.  There is a long light coloured retaining wall between the church and the road.
    From Aviemore drive South on the B9152 for 5 miles, you will pass Loch Alvie and Dalraddy Holiday Park, keep on for 1 1/2 miles, Kirkbeag is on the left hand side of the road.

SELF CATERING CABIN/
INDEPENDENT HOSTEL


Self Catering Cabin/Independent Hostel		 Our Cabin/Independent Hostel is a small comfortable unit sleeping up to max. 6 people.  Situated next to our home, it is three quarters surrounded by woodland.  It is ideal for the individual traveller, a group of friends wanting a break away or for a family holiday.  Children are very welcome but regretfully NO PETS please.
 
  • Accommodation:
    2 bunk rooms, each sleeping two
    1 fold away double bed in communal area.
    Dining area and fully equipped kitchen 
     - Gas cooker, fridge, microwave.
    Shower & toilet
    Sitting Room with T.V.
  • Bedding: On stays of 3 nights or less please bring your own sleeping bag or downie cover.  Covers are provided for stays of more than three nights.  Where bed linen is provided beds are made up for your arrival, but please strip on the morning of departure.
 Cabin Bedroom
  • A cot is available on request.  Hire of bedding/linen up to 3 nights £1.00
  • Drying and ironing facilities are provided but for washing there are launderettes in both Aviemore and Kingussie.
  • The Shower room has an electric shower, W.C. and wash-hand basin.

Tariff: Individuals - £9.00 per night
Groups: £45.00 per night

Group discounts (min. stay 2 nights) book for 6, pay for 5.
Electricity is charged for separately using a £1 slot meter.


Craft courses

Come and enjoy learning a new hobby - join one of John's Craft Courses - Woodturning, Woodcarving or Silversmithing.  Beginners particularly welcome.
  • Courses are designed for your own convenience so there are no restrictions on dates or times.  A workshop day usually runs from 9.30 a.m. - 5.00 p.m., with the use of the workshop in the evening if wished.  The maximum number of students on a course is 2.
 Craft Course Workshop
No equipment is necessary.  If you have any tools for Woodturning, Carving or Silversmithing do bring them but DO NOT buy especially.  Please bring an apron or overall.  Materials used during the course e.g. wood or silver, will be provided but may be charged for at cost at the end of the course.
  • Non-participating partners or families are very welcome.
